Finally....The Continents Song!
I have FINALLY figured out what to do to upload videos! Here it is! The long awaited Continents song. Like I said, we're almost ready for Broadway!
Multiage Mad Scientists
We had a lot of fun with science this week! We learned the use of a thermometer and how to measure temperature using the Celsius scale. We practiced using graduated cylinders to measure volume.
We also conducted an experiment today! We placed a popsicle outside on a plate (in direct sunlight) and one inside on a plate. We made a hypothesis about which would melt first, then checked on each popsicle in 10 minute intervals. We recorded our findings on our lab sheets by drawing our observations.
Popsicle in the sun:
Start
10 Minutes
20 Minutes
30 minutes
Popsicle inside:
Start
10 Minutes
20 Minutes
30 Minutes
And of course, we ate a few popsicles while we waited!
PE with Mr. Cory
Mr. Cory started teaching us PE this week! Today he focused on balance skills and introducing them to the stations that they'll be working in. I have to say, I was pretty tired just watching these guys work!
Also...I've been trying to upload videos but for some reason Blogger is being difficult with this. I am going to figure this out if it kills me!

Edit: I think my videos are working now! Check out The Amazing Miss Ariana using the Hula Hoop today!

Work Centers
We started work centers today! We split into small groups of three or four students to complete our assigned tasks.

One group used crayons and watercolors to practice the "crayon watercolor relief technique" of art.

Another group read Decodable books with Mr Cory before getting to choose their own books to read independently.

A third group played a number word and number matching game with Ms. Amy before practicing writing them independently (we're all working on these backward 3's).

The last group used Reading Rods to build words in the -at family, then wrote their words on the white boards.
The groups will rotate centers daily from Monday through Thursday.
