Next week we will begin our project work. Our first project theme is called "Pizza, Please!" We will use this theme in a cross-curricular way, emcompassing literacy, writing, math, social studies, and science skills. As a precursor to the unit, I asked the students to tell me what they know about pizza.

"There is crust on the pizza. It is made of bread."--Alex
"When you cut a pizza, it makes triangles."--Irene
"There is cheese. My mom and dad always get me cheese."--Morgan
